There are trendsetters and then there was Twiggy!


Twiggy's fame stemmed from her look, particularly her boyish pixie cut and "mod" style which became a symbol of the 1960s youth culture and a new ideal of beauty making her a trendsetter and one of the first supermodels!


Dame Lesley Lawson was widely known by the nickname Twiggy was an English model, actress and singer.  She was a British cultural icon and a prominent teenage model during the swinging 60s in London.



Twiggy was initially known for her thin build and appearance with her big eyes, long eyelashes and short hair.  She was named "The Face of 1966" by the Daily Express and voted British Woman of the Year.  By 1967, she had modeled in France, Japan and the United States plus appeared on the cover of Vogue.  Her fame had spread worldwide. After modeling, Twiggy had a successful career as a screen, stage and television actress.
